Interiors of New Skoda Superb revealed

Before its launch, the company has released the interiors of the luxurious saloon. The all new Skoda Superb may hit the international markets this year, while India launch is expected by next year.

The Skoda Superb sedan is inspired by the Vision C concept which previews the company’s new design philosophy.

The Superb saloon is claimed to offer spacious interiors and holds high end features. The cabin of the saloon is inspired from the MQB Octavia; however, changes have been done to its styling and colour.

Featuring a new steering wheel with leather cladding, the centre console gets a touchscreen interface and other switch gears giving it a  complete luxury look.

The Skoda Superb saloon's length has been increased by upto 20mm, while the wheelbase is raised by 80mm. The increase in wheelbase will result into a spacious cabin. Thanks to its MQB platform, the new saloon is around 75kg less than the predecessor.

Indian Roadmaster launched at Rs 37 lakh in India

The deliveries for the motorcycle are expected to begin in the second half of this year. This is the fourth edition by the company in the Indian market including Scout, Chief (Classic & Vintage), Chieftain and Roadmaster.

However, the launch was a low key affair and no official announcement was made. According to the official website, the company has listed the new touring bike and revealed everything about it including the prices.

The company claims the 2015 Indian Roadmaster to be a pure American luxury. "Building upon the iconic Roadmaster name used by Indian in the 1940s, the new Roadmaster reimagines Indian Motorcycle comfort, styling and performance out on the open road, for the long haul.", says the company's official website.

BMW fixes security flaw that exposed 2.2M cars to break-ins

The company says the problem affected BMW, Mini and Rolls Royce models equipped with its ConnectedDrive technology, which allows drivers to access certain car functions with a smartphone.

German automobile club ADAC, which discovered the flaw last summer, says hackers could have used a fake cellphone base station to intercept network traffic from the car and lower the windows or open the doors. There are no reports such a break-in ever took place.

BMW spokeswoman Silke Brigl said today that hackers wouldn't have been able to start or stop the engine. Brigl said the problem has been fixed with an automatic update and customers don't need to take any action.

Ssangyong launches compact SUV Tivoli

Ssangyong Motor CO (SYMC), which is the fourth largest auto maker of South Korea has invested USD 320 million in Tivoli project and would pump in approximately USD 920 million in the next three years on various activities to further enhance its position in the market.

"Ssanyong has invested 700 billion won since its M&A (with Mahindra) and would put one trillion won (USD 920 million) in next three years," said Ssangyong Motor Co Chairman of BOD P K Goenka.

Tivoli is the first product to come out of the SYMC stable after Mahindra & Mahindra acquired 70 percent controlling stake in 2011.

The company has launched four versions powered by 1,597 CC petrol engine with price ranging between 16.35 million won (USD 15,000) to 23.47 million won (USD 21,500). The diesel engine based models would come in July.

"Tivoli is a strategic global model which SYMC has developed with great devotion in the past four years after the acquisition. It will be a cornerstone for the company to become a global SUV maker," SYMC CEO Yoo-il Lee said.

Mercedes-Benz joins race for self driving cars,unveils concept

"This is a concept car. We will use the technology in future to develop autonomous driving cars in future," Daimler Director (User Interaction & Connected Car) Ralf Lamberti told PTI here at the International CES.

Already internet giant Google has showcased its self driving car and Mercedes is looking to take the standard much higher.

According to the company, passengers in F015 will be able to interact intuitively with the connected vehicle by means of gestures or by touching the high-resolution screen.

It also has a variable seating system with four rotating lounge chairs that allow a face-to-face seat configuration.

"People spend a lot of time in three places-home, office, and car. We want to give people space so that they spend more time in the car in luxury," Lamberti said.

Datsun Go+ all set to hit Indian market on 15th January next year

The compact MPV segment, which is a large five-seater hatchback with a flexible third row, is best suited for children.  The Go+ is based on the Go hatch.

Go+  will be powered by the 1.2-litre three cylinder petrol motor, with a slightly tweaked ECU churning out an adequate 68PS and 104Nm.

Despite the increased weight, which is about 20kg, the torquey motor helps the Go+ take off with some excitement. The Go+ is likely to be priced at Rs 4.1 lakh approximately.

Maruti Suzuki to hike prices in the range of 2-4 percent from January

"We are planning to increase the prices in the range of 2-4 per cent across our entire range of products from January. It was in October 2013 that we had taken our last price hike," Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) RS Kalsi informed.

The company had been absorbing the impact of higher input cost for quite some time now, he said.

"We have been absorbing the impact of higher input costs for quite some time now but we did not hike the prices because the market was not doing well."

Maruti Suzuki India sells a range of vehicles, from Alto 800 to Grand Vitara, priced between Rs 2.37 lakh and Rs 24.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Earlier in the day, its rival Hyundai Motor India also announced a price hike by up to Rs 25,000 from next month across its models.

Last week, German luxury car maker BMW had announced that it will raise product prices in India by up to 5 percent with effect from the first week of January.

Renault India to launch two models next year

"Renault's focus in 2015 will be on introducing two new products in very exciting segments-the MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) and the A-entry segment, which is the heart of the Indian automotive industry," Sumit Sawhney, the country CEO and managing director of Renault Operations in India, said.

"We are taking major steps to increase our presence in India and will be entering the volume and growth segments to strengthen our position in India,"

"We have a long-term focus on the market and are working towards achieving a five per cent market share in the medium period, within the next three years. This will be done both by launching new vehicles as well as expanding our dealer network," he added.

According to Sawhney, Renault India will further expand its facilities next year, which will be one of the fastest ramp ups by an automobile manufacturer in India.
