Xiaomi claims new record, sells over two million phones in 12 hours

Auto News - The Mi Fan Festival was held to mark the China's majors tech company's fifth anniversary on April 8. The grand festival recorded impressive sales record whereas company sold  not only two million smartphones, but also 38,000 televisions, 200,000 fitness bands and 247,000 power strips.

According to a report, it is being speculated that the commendable increase in sales of the company's other products indicates that in future company will bundle all its efforts to expand its customer base that will not be limited to its core products. Also, the company is experimenting its efficacy in the service market, mobile wallet.

A surge in sales of other products is an indication of Xiaomi's efforts to expand beyond its core business. Apart from wearables and other consumer devices, the company is also testing services, including a mobile wallet.

New iPhones help Apple surpass Xiaomi in China's smartphone market

Tech News - According to consumer research firm Kantar Worldpanel, the latest number for smartphone sales in China has Apple’s market share rising to 27.6 percent from the 25 percent in from December to February, 2015.

Apple’s overall share increased 9.7 percentage points year-over-year, surpassing local brand Xiaomi for the first time.

According to Kantar, China’s top three smartphones in the last three months ending February were the iPhone 6, followed by Xiaomi’s Redmi Note and then Apple again with the iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple plans to roll out around 20 new China stores by 2016, likely located in glitzy locations and rubbing shoulders with outlets for luxury brands such as Chanel and Hermes International SCA (HRMS.PA).

For Apple, brick-and-mortar stores help it maintain a premium image, from the product to in-store service and even packaging, allowing the firm to charge far higher prices than rivals - vital to its enviable profit margins.

Past data showed Apple outsold all other smartphone makers in China by units shipped in October-December 2014, making it the country's top seller for the first time.

Delhi HC allows Xiaomi to sell Qualcomm-based handsets till 8th January

In an interim order, the High Court had on December 8 restrained Xiaomi as well as online e-commerce site Flipkart from selling in India handsets of the Chinese mobile maker that run on the technology patented by Swedish technology company Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson.
  
A bench headed by Justice Pradeep Nandrajog today passed the "pro tem order" as Xiaomi had contended that Ericsson suppressed the fact that the Chinese mobile maker has also used chipsets of Qualcomm which has a licence to use patents of the Swedish company.
  
Xiaomi sells its handsets exclusively through e-commerce site Flipkart on every Tuesday, the court was told during the proceedings.
  
The bench was also told by senior advocate Kapil Sibal and advocate Ajit Warrier, appearing for Xiaomi, that on each Tuesday around one lakh units are expected to be sold on the site.
  
Therefore, as part of the "pro tem" or temporary measures, the bench asked Xiaomi to deposit Rs 100 per handset sold, towards royalty, in favour of the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court and the amount so deposited be kept in a fixed deposit.
