Asus to launch Zenfone 2 in Q2, planning to sell 30 million units

Tech News -  The Taiwanese technology major Asus said the launch of Zenfone 2 smartphone will be followed by the unveiling of Zenfone Zoom in the third quarter in India. The ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) is reportedly the only smartphone launched in the industry with 4GB of RAM.

The device is already available for purchase in China, Taiwan, and France, but it is in China where ASUS expects the ZenFone 2 to find roaring success. The company is planning to sell 10 million units in the country through this year.

The plan of selling 30 million units this year will enable the company to mark its stand into the list of top 10 global smartphone manufacturers.

The original ZenFone certainly set the ball rolling for ASUS as the company went from selling 10,000 smartphones per month in January 2014 to averaging 1.5 million per month. With all new design, ZenFone 2 features a 5.5-inch Full HD and a (1280x1920p) IPS display offering a pixel density of 403ppi with a wide 178-degree viewing angle and Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The ZenFone 2 is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz. and has 4GB RAM. The phone will be available in two RAM variants - with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and another with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Phone will be available in 16, 32 and 64GB storage variants.
