Gadget Reviews India - "In my view about 80 million smartphones were sold last year of which around 70 percent where handsets under Rs 10,000 category. So it was natural for us to first start with this range," Fly Mobiles President Rahul Goel said.
Asked about the reasons behind using the eCommerce channel, Goel said online shopping reduces the time to market and helps is cutting distribution channel costs.
"Last year, I think, around 15-18 million smartphones were sold through the online channels, which I think this year should go up to 27-30 million as the popularity of eCommerce is rising," he added.
The company, which has been operating in the handset segment for the past 10 years globally, also plans to launch a couple of smartphones going ahead. "We will launch a 5.5-inch scree size smartphone and a LTE supported handset this year by May-June," Goel said.
Qik+ comes with Mediatek 1.7 GHz Octa Core Processor, 13 MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. It is powered by a 2200 mAh battery and sports a 5-inch screen.
Qik is powered by Mediatek's Octa-Core 1.7 GHz processor and has an 8 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera with a 4.5-inch screen.
