Samsung teams up with luxury designers to customize accessories for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge

Tech News - Working with Swarovski, Montblanc, Romero Britto, Rebecca Minkoff and Burton, the company has handpicked designers for fusion of fashion and technology.

For example, Swarosvki has developed a colorful series of premium, protective, crystal-embellished covers that reflect the different shades of glass in the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Samsung had recently launched "Iron Man versions" of its hot-sellers Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Sales of Galaxy S6 smartphones reached 6 million units at the end of April, less than a month after their launch, researcher Counterpoint said, suggesting a positive start.
             
Counterpoint said in a statement that combined sales of S6 and S6 edge from the April 10 launch to April 30 were better than Galaxy S5's sales in the same period of 2014.
             
They were also the most popular smartphone models globally after arch-rival Apple Inc's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the researcher said.
             
Counterpoint said it expected sales for the new Samsung flagship phones to reach 50 million by the end of the year, better than what the firm estimates to be its current first-year sales record of 45 million units for the Galaxy S4.

Samsung tips higher second-quarter profit on Galaxy S6 sales

Tech News - Samsung's renewed focus on design after a period of stagnation in its smartphone range appears to be paying dividends, with researcher Strategy Analytics saying the South Korean giant overtook Apple Inc as the world's top smartphone maker in the first quarter.

"Galaxy S6 sales have been going as well as expected, while demand for the Galaxy S6 edge have been better than anticipated," Samsung Vice President Park Jin-young said during a conference call.

The firm reported a January-March operating profit of 6 trillion won ($5.64 billion), in line with the 5.9 trillion won profit it had guided for earlier this month and the highest in three quarters.

Earnings for April-June should continue to rise, it said, with the two Galaxy S6 models - featuring new design flourishes like metal bodies - likely to break the company's sales record.

Samsung shares have slipped in recent weeks on concerns that the Galaxy S6 phones, on sale since April 10, may not sell as well as first hoped.

Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge to be available in India from 23rd March

Tech News  - The two devices were announced at one of the biggest global events,  Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona earlier this month and it will probably go on sale from April 10th.

According to the company they have already received over 20 million pre-orders for both the devices. The sixth edition of the flagship devices - Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge -- will be available in 20 markets, including India from April 10.

Speaking at its launch during the Mobile World Congress, Samsung CEO and Head of IT and Mobile Division J K Shin said: "People want best in class performance and best in class design. That is what we have done with these new phones."

The smartphones have 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen that offers a pixel density of 577 pixel per inch. Both the phones have world's first 14 nano meter mobile processor with 64-bit platform, latest memory technology, which the company said makes them faster compared to any other phone.

The Galaxy 6 Edge has curved screen both side. Both the bend side panel work as different screens on which people can see who is calling them and see message. The two panels on edge and main screen work as three different screens on a single layer of display.

Both the devices have wireless charging feature and in 10 minutes of charging the phone can work for 4 hours.
